Job Title: Field Engineer II

Primary Location: Various – Traveling Required.

Job Summary:

Field Engineers report field conditions for design engineers to accurately
design the outside plant network. Responsible for aerial and underground
data collection while validating a viable cost-effective path for
engineering. Most of the field work is conducted outdoors along public
right of way, utility easements, and private property.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • During travel, daily travel to job site(s) using rented UNDC
    vehicle, ensuring that rented vehicles and UNDC tools are
    maintained to company safety standards.
  • UNDC provides per diem and approved expense reimbursement.
  • Employee required to keep good records and report expenses as required.
  • At times, may be required to interface with customers,
    landowners and represent UNDC and its clients in a positive
    and professional manner.
  • Occasional extended travel out of assigned market may be
    requested.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
General

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to accommodate travel in
    personal vehicle or rented vehicle provided by UNDC,
    satisfactory driving record.
  • Highly organized, self-starter, and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Superior time management with ability to prioritize work on
    several projects.
  • Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including
    changes to schedule and workflow priorities.
  • Ability to follow direction in maintaining all Field Safety
    standards.

Physical

  • Ability to stand, stoop, squat and bend for extended periods
    of time.
  • Ability to look up for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time and/or long
    distances.
  • Ability to navigate through potential uneven
    walkways/terrain.
  • Tolerant to extreme elements (heat, sun, wind, rain, snow,
    etc.).
  • Good vision and depth perception (corrective lenses OK).
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs – 50 lbs.

Technical

  • Proficiency with cellular communications in business
    environment.
  • Ability to upload/download and edit documents in Project
    Management software.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Understanding of telecommunications design and the ability
    to support engineering.
  • Knowledge and experience with telecommunications
    engineering standards and construction techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of Make-Ready Construction.
